Skype hires, Yahoo fires

Skype, who since last year is owned by Microsoft, has announced that the company opens new job positions, while Yahoo, whose key people several years ago rejected an offer for acquisition by Microsoft, is announcing new layoffs.
Skype plans to open about 400 new jobs in five cities.

The company stated that primarily they are looking for new workers in London and Stockholm, reports BBC.

New jobs will be opened in Tallinn, Prague and Palo Alto California.

On the other hand, Yahoo announced that they plan to abolish 2,000 jobs. Also, they are not excluding the possibility to come to new layoffs.
Skype  will open a new technology center in central London and therefore the number of employees in that city will be increased by 40%, to 330 employees.

When all of the new job positions  will be filled, the company worldwide will employ 1,600 people.

I think that Yahoo is going down and still to this day I can't understand why they didn't accept Microsoft's offer few years ago. For me that's the main reason why they're falling, slowly but surely.
