So you're with your friends and you wanna hang out, or make out with some girls, but you don't know where to find them. Now you got the opportunity to easily find chicks in your town. The solution is called "The Girls Around Me". It's application that uses data from Foursquare and Facebook to automatically show you where in nearby there are women.
"The Girls Around Me" was originally made for Foursquare, who blocked it after the criticism for invasion of privacy and possible security threat to its users, according to CNET.
The Russian company "I-Free Innovations", whose developers developed the controversial application, are claiming that they used only publicly available data and offer the same functionality as many other applications.
They point out that the application does not allow anonymous use - who wants to use it must be a registered user and logged in to Foursquare. It is impossible to find and track a specific person.
Private messages can be sent only through Facebook, not the application itself, a person will receive them only if you have properly set the security settings.
Therefore they think that their application is incorrectly interpreted and that they are selected as victims in order to encourage discussion on issues related to the right of privacy.
The application is available for several months, and so far was downloaded more than 70 000 times. The Russians claim that it's very well accepted.
However, the latest news are that this application was voluntarily taken down from AppStore by the developers. But I'm definitively sure that there will be another similar version, or this version will be returned by the developers, as I assume that this maybe is a marketing trick of the Russian company.
